Everyone wants to travel as much as possible and the bucket list continuously becomes longer and longer. The only question about traveling is how we are going to afford our urge to travel. Well, cutting down on trips is definitely not an option whereas traveling on budget sounds tempting, doesn’t it? Of course you want to do something cultural while traveling, however, admission for museums can be extraordinarily expensive and costs sum up after a while. We have, thus, made a selection of free museums and other attractions in five European capitals.

Paris

The French capital, famous among couples due to its sublime cityscape and romantic places, boasts a myriad of world-renowned museums, art galleries, and historic buildings. A city break in Paris could impoverish you when your inclination to culture doesn’t let you pass by all the splendorous sites. But hang on! You can even access the major museums, a multitude of smaller museums and art exhibitions for free. Check out the list below:

  • Musée du Louvre (free on 1st Sunday of the month, from 1st October to 31 March, 18-25 year-old residents of the European Economic Area, and many other exceptions)
  • Arc de Triomphe (free on 1st Sunday of the month, from 1st November to 31 March inclusive)
  • Château de Versailles (free on 1st Sunday of the month, from 1st November to 31 March inclusive, free for European Union nationals under 26)
  • Musée d’Orsay (everyone on first Sunday of the month)
  • Musée Nationale de l’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou (free on 1st Sunday of the month, all year round)
  • Musée national Picasso (free on 1st Sunday of the month, all year round)
  • Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (free every day, all year round)
  • Petit Palais, Musée des Beaux Arts de la Ville de Paris (free every day, all year round)

London

Berlin

  • St. Peter’s Basilica (entry to the main floor is free)
  • Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel (free on last Sunday of every month from 9am to 2pm)

Museums, monuments, and archeological sites are free on the first Sunday of each month. Take your chance and explore them.

Oslo

The capital far up North! Oslo has an impressive number of remarkable museums, art exhibitions, and other cultural institutions. Within one weekend, you won’t be able to see and visit everything you want. As Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in the world, it might come in handy for your bank account balance to go for the budget opportunities.
