5 Things To Do in the Middle East

May 22, 2015

The Middle East is more than Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, or the Palm Islands. Travel to different countries and experience the diversity of the sandy, hot Middle East. Challenge yourself on a sandboard, experience the fancy and surreal world of one of the most famous cars in the world or travel to fascinating ancient cities.

1. Sandboarding

The Middle East is home to some of the best sandboarding spots in the world with slopes for beginners and pros. The dunes for advanced riders are not less than 150 meters high and sloping of angles of 70 degrees or more. There is evidence that already the ancient Egyptians used wooden boards and pottery to ride down the dunes. The area around Dubai boasts some great sandboarding spots.

2. Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi

This futuristic building is the ultimate demonstration of Ferrari’s superiority. Not only the outside of the building is impressive, also the facilities inside thrill the visitor. Ferrari World is the largest indoor theme park in the world and boasts the fastest roller coaster in the world, Formula Rossa. If you dare to take a ride, the roller coaster will give you the ultimate F1 experience as it accelerates with the same speed as a real F1 race car. For those who want to take a closer look at the heart of a Ferrari, a factory tour will reveal (almost) all secrets of the legendary Ferrari cars.

4. Petra in Jordan

Visit the unique UNESCO world heritage site Petra in southern Jordan. Petra got the name Rose City due to the color of the stones out of which the houses are cut. UNESCO has described Petra as “one of the most precious cultural properties of man’s cultural heritage”. Take your time to visit and marvel at this extraordinary stone city.
